The conference has been held annually since 1992. The organizers of this event aim at preparing not only a highly professional program but mainly an independent one, without commercial presentations or marketing lectures. It's no wonder that more than four hundred prominent security managers, specialists, and auditors from across the Czech and Slovak Republics met together at the Clarion Hotel in Prague on the third Wednesday in February.
Once again, the conference took place this year in parallel in two auditoriums, so that each participant had the opportunity to set up their program according to their own preferences and to attend precisely those lectures connected to their interests. The event was accompanied by short technical workshops and the third annual favorite "Hacking Contest". In this contest, dozens of contestants were able to try actual hacking techniques used by cybercriminals under the supervision of experienced penetration testers from the Czech company AEC.
During the course of the day there were a total of twenty-six lecturers onstage, and foreign experts were included this year. Right at the visionary introduction, three of these experts were introduced – Kirill Evreinov (Google), George Chiorescu (FireEye), and Sean Sullivan (F-Secure). As a result of the attendees' enquiry, the most highly lauded topics by the audience were anonymity, mobile security, and the current problem of internet fraud.
Among the lecturers, the most successful were JUDr. Josef Donat, with his lecture on electronic evidence of online financial crime and frauds committed by electronic means of payment, JUDr. Jan Kolouch from the Police Academy of the Czech Republic, with his lecture on anonymity of the internet environment, and Mr. Tomas Jirsa from Raiffeisenbank, a prominent expert on cryptology, with his presentation on Biometrics and its role in signal detection.
"We strive to keep raising the standard of the conference higher and higher, and open it up to experts in the field of security. We used to focus on what was happening in the auditoriums and the quality of the presentations. We realized that the conference is a meeting place of the security elite of the entire Czech and Slovak Republics. It is a place where they get together and exchange their experience. This is a dimension of the conference that we were not aware of in the past. That is why we changed the location of the event to a new site in order to allow the participants to have the best conditions for networking. We focused on customers rather than contractors, and we paved the way for exchanging opinions and experience," said Ing. Tomas Strycek, the director of the organizing company, AEC.
